Don’t forget to download your data before permanently deleting your Instagram Account.
No matter the purpose that intrigued you to delete Instagram, downloading your Instagram data before deleting your Instagram account is always a best practice.
All your Instagram data, such as your photos, IGTV videos, or reels, including all messages and comments, will be sent to you by Instagram after you request your data. So let’s go through the steps to ask Instagram to download the data.
Step – 1: Open your Instagram profile and tap on the triple bar button ☰ to access the menu, and from that menu, tap on “Your Activity.”
Step – 2: On the “Your Activity” page, scroll down to the end of this page and tap on “Download your information.”
Step – 3: Instagram will show the email address linked to your account. You can keep the same or type a new email address on which you want to receive the download link. Then, tap on “Request download” to submit your request.
Step – 4: Enter the password to confirm the account’s ownership and tap “Next” in the top-right corner.
Step – 5: You have successfully requested Instagram to download your data. Finally, tap on “Done” to exit from there.
The time frame for Instagram to send you the link to download your Instagram data is 48 hours. However, in most cases, Instagram emails the download link instantly or in an hour or two.
In my case, I’ve experienced quite an instant in this regard. So be patient! Give Instagram a bit of time to prepare all your data. And once you receive the mail, it will look like this.
Click on “Download information” on that email to download your Instagram data. Once you have all your account data, you can delete your Instagram account.
