Can you change the GPS location on your phone? If you are looking for how to change GPS location on Android phones, then this blog is going to help you with the step-by-step guides.
There are apps that require your location to assist you with the service that they have for you. Let’s say about Snapchat, or any dating apps such as OkCupid, Tinder, etc. These apps require your location to help you with your regional contexts.
But sometimes you don’t want things in your region, or you want to change GPS location on Snapchat for some reason. Maybe you don’t want to let your friends know the exact coordination of where you are. That’s cool. Not something that is unlawful to do for your privacy.
Even most dating apps don’t have the option to manually choose the location unless OkCupid. And these apps auto detect your location, where you’ve got no options to run these apps without allowing the location permission.
In such scenarios, you might have a different kind of viewpoint not to look around stuff nearby you. That’s obvious, I do the same. So here you require some magic to manipulate these apps with the GPS location chosen by you.
Not magic though, I’m kidding. 😆
Well, in this blog post, I will show you the steps you need to do on your Android phone to change GPS Location and have fun with such apps. 🤩

How to change GPS location on Android in 2022?
Step -1: Getting the right app.
First of all, we will tweak our location on our Android phone with an app. There are a lot of apps on the play store available for the same purpose. But the one that I’ve been using for a long time without any kind of issues with it is
Fake GPS location by Lexa.
This app is a beast with over 10 million Play Store downloads with a 4.6-star rating. And the app is just 1.3 MB. Amazing! (Well I can’t be so formal not to appreciate this app 😄)
Here is the shortcut to get the app from the Play Store.
Step – 2: Installing and setting up the app
Now that you know the right app for this purpose. Simply download and install the app.
After installing Fake GPS Location, open the app, and you will see the app is asking to allow mock locations for this app.
Note that, you have to do some sort of setting with your Android phone and for that, you need to enable the developer options to enable mock locations for this app.
Step – 3: Enabling Mock Locations on Android phone.
Mock location is a kind of feature available on Android phones for developers’ use only. Meaning, as a normal user, you won’t find this option on your settings.
If you need it, then you have to enable the developer option on your phone. I’m using a Redmi phone and Developer options can be enabled on all Redmi or Xiaomi phones just by tapping on the MIUI version continuously 7 times.
You can access the MIUI version option from Settings > About Phone > MIUI version
If you are using a different phone than Redmi or Xiaomi, you can simply search on Google typing: How to enable developer options on [Your phone name] + [Android Version].
Now that you enabled the developer option, you can simply allow mock locations to the Fake GPS Locations app.
You will be able to find the developer option more likely from Additional Settings on your phone.
After entering on Developer options, scroll down gently until you see the Select mock location app. Note that, you may be overwhelmed by the so many options on the Developer settings page. And you should not use any other options apart from the mock location on Developer settings. It’s a bit case sensitive so you should be alert.
Click on Select mock location app and then choose Fake GPS location by Lexa from the list.
Alright, that’s it just. You have successfully configured the mock location for the Fake GPS location app. Now next step is to select the location and run the app.

Step – 4: Pinning to change GPS location
Now, open the app, you can zoom in, zoom out and pan on the map and put the location icon 📍 on your desired place to change GPS location on your phone. After that hit the green circle button to run this app.
In my case, let me put location icon 📍 on Bengaluru, India, and let’s see my location has changed on Snapchat or not.
Now you can see that Snapchat has updated my location that the Fake GPS location app is set to. This is how it works.
Let me show you a few more locations that I have set to on the Fake GPS location app and how Snapchat has kept on changing my real location. You will be surprised to see my location from one region to another just within a minute of distance.
Related apps that you can use to change GPS Location
Apart from Fake GPS Location by Lexa, you can also use different apps for the same purpose. Here’s a list of apps available on the Google Play Store that you can use to change GPS Location.
Fake GPS ~ ByteRev
Fake GPS Location with Joystick
My GPS Location ~ digrasoft UG
GPS Emulator ~ RosTeam
So, this is how you can mock your actual location. These apps are safe to use, and you can use them without being worried.
But you should keep in mind one thing that apps like Snapchat, Dating Apps (OkCupid, Tinder, etc) will only be able to use the fake location as long as the Fake GPS location app is running in the background.
If anyhow the app stops working, other apps that are using your location will update your real location. So be alert in this case if you don’t want to public your real location at any instance during the session.
You can lock the Fake GPS location app in the background if you have the feature to lock apps in the background on your Android phone.
Alright, hope this blog post was able to assist you with the proper information you were looking for. Now you can easily change GPS location on your phone.
